A busy week – Nikolas

Hey Everyone!

I am Nikolas, the new volunteer at “ERFOLG”. Actually, I live in Leipzig, Germany, but for the next months Daugavpils will be my hometown. After I graduated high school last summer, I am spending my gap year (which is basically more like some gap months) in this very nice city.

After an exhausting trip, I was welcomed by my mentor and the two other volunteers Jeanne and Madeleine on Friday evening at Daugavpils station. They were very nice, friendly and open although I just thought of sleep. The others told me some facts about “ERFOLG“, Daugavpils, etc. and showed me my flat – it would be a lot of work to make this apartment to my home…

Wir suchen DRINGEND eine/n Freiwillige/n aus DEUTSCHLAND!!

Unsere Aufnahmeorganisation „Verein der Dünaburger Deutschen ERFOLG“ in Daugavpils (Lettland) sucht nach Freiwilligen aus Deutschland!

Dem Projekt wurde bereits zugestimmt, doch die Freiwillige sprang ab. Jetzt brauchen wir dringend Verstärkung in unserem Team.

Finally I had my On-Arrival-Training! – Madeleine

As I have already been in my project for 2 months I did not think there would be much to learn for me. But I was wrong: In these 4 days and a breakfast I found new friends, learned about the EVS and related topics and most important, I had a lot of fun! Together with 6 other volunteers from 5 different countries, 6 mentors and 2 animators we lived in a beautiful old house for 4 days, 4 nights and a breakfast.

The guest house “Rāmavas muiža” was situated outside of Riga and with all the snow around, it felt like we were in the middle of nowhere.Image
