Erste Woche – Madeleine

Hi everyone!

I am another european volunteer at Erfolg. My name is Madeleine and I am from a small village in Germany. I just graduated from secondary school and am now taking a gap year at Daugavpils. As this is a multilingual blog, I will be writing in german now. Enjoy!

First big assignment : kid’s holiday school – Jeanne

Last week, I had my first big assignment a Erfolg. The week was free for schoolchildren, and the society organised a holiday school for kids between 7 and 13 years old. The topic was the traditional celebrations of autumn and included one hour of german lessons and one hour of dancing everyday. My tasks consisted in teaching german and assisting the animator-in-chief, Renate.

We worked with a group of 8 children. We taught them the story of several celebrations, like Halloween, Saint Martin’s day, Lacplesis (a Latvian epic  poem celebrated on the 11th of November) and Carnival (in Germany).
